My rating: 3 of 5 stars
**I would like to thank the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with an advance copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review**
When I read the description for this one, I wanted to read it. It seemed original and dark. What I did not expect was it would also be the best of it – the blurb. I wanted to enjoy this one, way more than I ended up enjoying.
So what was wrong with it? For me, a story needs characters you care about. I didn’t care about anyone in this book. The MC is downright odd and completely unlikable. Nothing wrong with that, so long as there’s someone else you can root for. But, there isn’t. Sandra Whittal certainly engenders no good feelings. She alternates between being an annoying character and just being an unbelievable one. I won’t spoil anything, but let’s just say she rarely acts like a detective.
I don’t know, lots of people like it, but for me it just didn’t work.
