Book Review – Neverwhere

NeverwhereNeverwhere by Neil Gaiman

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Well this was an experience! I had never read anything by Neil Gaiman before with the exception of a few comics. Let me say that Neverwhere was quite enjoyable.

The characters within these pages are a motley crew of colorful rogues, brave heroes, and sinister villains. What Gaiman has constructed here is a world unto itself that you can’t help but love to visit. More than once while reading these pages my mind harkened back to the adventure stories that I loved in my youth. And no review of this work would be complete without special mention of Mr. Croup and Mr. Vandemar. These two rogues were especially well drawn.

Despite going against convention by using numerous adverbs and lengthy detailed descriptions, Neil Gaiman’s writing popped and kept this reader turning the many pages. If you’re in the market for an original concept and enjoy fantasy then give this one a try. You won’t be disappointed!!
